All Ears Dog Training and Behavior: Remote Separation Anxiety Training for Dogs and Guardians Everywhere

Meet Melissa!

Melissa (she/her) is a Certified Separation Anxiety Trainer (CSAT) who has been working and volunteering with animals for 15+ years. Melissa began training dogs professionally in 2017 when she finally decided to put her education in animal behavior and apprenticeship work to use! Throughout her tenure, she has been an advocate for humane, data-driven, and evidence-based training methods. She firmly believes that every dog deserves to thrive alongside their human and that we humans owe it to dogs to understand and meet their needs.

Melissa believes in the incredible importance of a continuing education and is an active member of several professional organizations. She consistently seeks out opportunities to expand and improve upon her dog training and behavior knowledge, and secretly wishes that she could be a student forever!

While Melissa’s interest and professional experience in training and behavior goes beyond the scope of Separation Anxiety, she chose this specialty when she saw the enormous and debilitating impact that it was having on dogs and their guardians. She believes that good training centers compassion, and always aims to get to know both canine and human clients on a deeper level. Melissa knows that force-free training is not just for the dogs, it’s a way to help all learners connect with their goals.

When Melissa isn’t helping you with your canine companion, she is probably wandering a beach looking for fun bird tracks or hiking a trail with her sweet Terrier-mix, Lola!

At All Ears Dog Training and Behavior, we are dedicated to prioritizing the physical and emotional well-being of your entire family, including your canine companion.

We are a force-free business, which means we will NEVER endorse or recommend aversive tools such as prong collars, slip leads, shock/vibrate/beeping collars, bark collars, or any form of rough handling in our training methods.

This pledge extends to every member of your family, whether they walk on two legs or four. Our stance on being force-free goes beyond dog training; it embodies our philosophy in treating all living beings, humans included, with respect, compassion, and understanding.

Why Do We Take a Force-Free and Positive Reinforcement Centered Approach?

Emotionally Safe

Force-free training fosters an environment in which your dog feels safe to, “get it wrong,” leading them to “get it wrong,” significantly less frequently! Lasting behavior change is only accomplished when we address the underlying cause of your dog’s panic, rather than just trying to eliminate the symptoms, and do so in a way that feels safe for all involved.

Builds Trust

Force-free training nurtures trust by establishing predictable, positive patterns for your dog, replacing fear and anxiety with happiness and neutrality. It makes you a reliable, trustworthy narrator in your dog’s life, creating a method both you and your canine companion can feel good about!

R+ is scientifically proven to be effective, not only with canines, but with all species, from humans to elephants to tigers, highlighting its universal applicability in behavior modification. Its efficacy is particularly vital in treating the root cause of emotionally driven and challenging behavioral issues like Separation Anxiety. Your dog doesn’t need correction, they need compassion!

Human Well-Being

Utilizing a humane and ethical training method, not only improves the well-being of dogs but also enhances the emotional well-being of their human guardians. It fosters a deeper sense of connection and accomplishment, creating a positive and fulfilling experience for both dog and owner, strengthening the human-canine bond.

Long-Term Results

While treating Separation Anxiety can be a journey, the sustainable and empowering nature of R+ guarantees that your dog acquires coping mechanisms that lead to long-term relief, allowing both you and your pet to enjoy a harmonious and anxiety-free future together.

Our Position on Inclusivity

At All Ears, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone—regardless of species, breed, gender, age, sexual orientation, ethnicity, disability, or socioeconomic status. We recognize the beauty and value in diversity, both in the dogs we train and the humans we work alongside.

For Our Furry Clients

No dog is too challenging, and no dog is turned away based on stereotypes or biases. We tailor each training protocol to meet the individual needs of each dog, catering to the unique qualities that make them special.

For Our Human Clients

We strive to empower all dog guardians, acknowledging that everyone’s journey with their pet is different and deserving of respect. Our resources and services are designed to be accessible and sensitive to the varied needs of our diverse clientele.

Sliding Scale Training

Recognizing that financial barriers can limit access to quality pet care and training, we offer a limited number of sliding scale training slots for members of the BIPOC and LGBTQIA2+ communities, as well as for those with need-based circumstances. We are committed to making our services accessible to everyone who requires them.
